About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Software Automation Engineer - Aerospace and Defense to join our team. The successful candidate will design and program high-performance automation for systems of systems engineering or Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE). The oversight requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams to support the needs of new product development programs and expand the capacity of existing lines through automation. Key areas of focus will include:

  • Configuration management
  • Validation
  • Automated workflows
  • Software development lifecycle

The ideal candidate will have a solid working knowledge in C++ and experience with industrial robots, autonomous systems controllers, or digital engineering and sensors. Prior experience with image processing is a plus. Strong programming fundamentals and analytical background in logical problem-solving and demonstrated ability to organize and move project tasks forward in an orderly and structured fashion are essential. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate issues/problems and results that impact timelines, accuracy, and reliability of project data are also required.

Responsibilities
  • Closely work with cross-functional teams to support the needs of new product development programs and expand the capacity of existing manufacturing lines through automation.
  • Improve resiliency and efficiency by stimulating critical infrastructure in software for planning, operations, optimization, and failure scenarios.
  • Participate in designing, tool evaluation, and code reviews.
  • Automate discovery and actions, including automating policies in place and deciding what should happen to data based on sensitivity.
  • Specific duties may vary depending upon department requirements.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or other related science or engineering discipline is required.
  • 3-5 years working experience in large-scale software design predominantly in aerospace & defense industry.
  • 3-5 years programming experience using C# or any OOP (object-oriented programming) is required.
  • Prior experience with industrial robots, autonomous systems controllers, or digital engineering and sensors is a plus.
  • Prior experience with image processing is a plus.
  • Experience with SQL, communication protocols, GUI design, and database management is essential.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Solid working knowledge in C++.
  • Hardware/software integration experience is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and validate systems in space manufacturing is essential.
  • Strong programming fundamentals and analytical background in logical problem-solving and demonstrated ability to organize and move project tasks forward in an orderly and structured fashion.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate issues/problems and results that impact timelines, accuracy, and reliability of project data.
  • A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected, including the ability to multitask and work productively in a demanding environment with changing priorities.
  • Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) is essential.
  • Offensive Security Certified Professional (OSCP)
  • Certified Authorization Professional (CAP)
  • Information Systems Security Engineering Professional (ISSEP)
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
  • Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP)
  • Information Assurance System Architecture and Engineer (IASAE)
  • It is prerequisite to be certified in one of the listed DoD 8570 Certifications.
Physical Demands and Environment

This position requires the ability to communicate and exchange information, utilize equipment necessary to perform the job, and move about the office. The position will operate in the regulatory engineering division, 'MULTIDOMAIN DEFENCE DOCK' Standard engineering lab environment.

Employees must be legally authorized to work in the UK. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
