**Job Summary:**

Keltbray Infrastructure Services Ltd is seeking a highly skilled Lead Design Engineer to join our Wentworth House Rail Design Team based in Preston Brook, Runcorn, Cheshire.

**Key Responsibilities:**

* Lead the creation, preparation, modification, or contribution to designs, or arrange for others to do such work.

* Manage and coordinate technical and engineering activities within a specific engineering discipline.

* Provide engineering integration and guidance to project managers and teams to ensure project compliance.

* Undertake or lead design in accordance with WHRS quality management system, meeting agreed programs and budgets.

* Ensure that the Company Design Assurance is applied to all allocated projects.

* Assist in determining design scope and preparing valuation of design elements as part of the tendering process.

* Conduct site surveys and lead the team of engineers and technicians in producing design calculations and drawings.

* Maintain coordination of feasibility studies, outline, and detailed design proposals.

* Approve the work of design engineers and CAD technicians.

* Manage the interfacing of allocated Design Teams with Construction and Commissioning Teams where relevant to allocated electrification design and construct projects.

* Assist in maintaining Design Procedures to ensure they meet the company's quality and environmental procedures and current best engineering practice.

* Undertake the role of Contractor's Responsible Engineer as required.

* Undertake consultancy projects (feasibility, outline design, etc.) in the role of Senior Project Engineer.

**Requirements:**

* A sound understanding of Network Rail's requirements regarding the Risk Assessment process.

* Knowledge of Railway Group and Network Rail Company standards.

* Understanding of safety, quality, and environmental issues relevant to the railway environment.

* Knowledge of Rail/Civil design range applicable to current projects.

* Experience in generating Technical Queries (TQN) and Requests for information (RFI), Early Warning Notices (EWN), and contract variations.

* Experience in Commercial and Design processes.

* Experienced in managing design and CAD engineers and teams.

* Ability to read contract requirements and implement technical requirements specified therein.

* Strong people management skills.

* Proven track record in tendering and managing standard/complex/major projects, including sub-contractors.

* Commercial awareness with knowledge of both budgetary and financial control.

* Ability to work across conflicting interest groups to develop solutions to complex operational and commercial problems.
