About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and safety-focused Operative to join our team as an Overhead Line Equipment Specialist. As an Operative, you will play a critical role in maintaining the daily upkeep of the rail network, ensuring the safe and efficient movement of passengers and freight.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work outdoors in all conditions, supporting essential maintenance to keep the railway running safely and smoothly.
  • Collaborate with a small team to deliver safe and efficient work delivery, adhering to rules and instructions.
  • Develop your skills and competencies relevant to your discipline, keeping up to date with new standards, procedures, and instructions.
  • Work under pressure, remaining calm and focused in demanding manual work environments.
  • Transport kit and equipment across tricky terrain, often working next to moving trains.
Requirements
  • Teamworking: ability to work closely with the team to deliver safe and efficient work delivery.
  • Communication: good communication skills to work safely and effectively.
  • Proactive planning: punctuality, having the van and equipment ready, and anticipating the needs of the team.
  • Working under pressure: ability to remain calm under pressure in demanding manual work environments.
  • Following rules and instructions: understanding and respect for rules, with confidence to challenge if a situation is unsafe.
  • Willingness to learn: consistent development of skills and competencies relevant to your discipline.
