Key Responsibilities:
  1. Strategic Quality and Compliance: Develop and implement strategic objectives for the QESH department, ensuring all operations consistently meet or exceed ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards.
  2. Implementation and Maintenance of EN 1090 EXC Class 2: Manage the adoption and sustained compliance of the BS EN 1090 EXC Class 2 standards for steel and aluminium structures, guaranteeing that all processes and outputs comply with structural component regulations.
  3. Auditing: Formulate comprehensive audit plans and manage detailed internal, supplier, and subcontractor audits to identify gaps and evaluate the effectiveness of existing QESH management systems.
  4. CAPA Management: Develop and administer corrective and preventive actions to rectify non-conformances discovered during audits and investigations, ensuring continuous improvement across QESH processes.
  5. Compliance and Monitoring: Maintain strict alignment with QESH monitoring metrics, uphold final product quality, and ensure adherence to specific legislation including PED/PE(S)R, Machine Directive [CE/UKCA], and HASAWA.
  6. Policy and Procedure Development: Lead the creation, administration, and maintenance of comprehensive QESH procedures and policies across the company to meet all applicable standards.
  7. Training and Culture: Drive the development of inspection test plans (ITPs) and foster a proactive safety culture within the company. Identify and address training needs, either by sourcing external training providers or conducting in-house training sessions to ensure all team members are knowledgeable and equipped to perform their roles safely.
  8. Equipment Servicing and Inspections: Oversee regular servicing and maintenance schedules for all company equipment, including calibrations and safety inspections, to ensure high operational standards and prevent equipment-related issues.
  9. Industry Accreditation Maintenance: Continuously maintain and renew key industry accreditations such as Constructionline, CHAS, and Safe Contractor, ensuring the company meets or exceeds all standards required for operational excellence and regulatory compliance.
  10. Travel Requirements: This role requires occasional travel within the UK to manage and oversee QESH requirements for various projects. You will be responsible for conducting on-site audits, attending meetings with clients, and ensuring that all project sites adhere to the rigorous QESH standards. A full UK driving license is essential for fulfilling these duties, as you will need to travel efficiently and independently to various locations as needed.
Qualifications and Experience:
  1. Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar Health & Safety, Environmental and Quality Assurance role, preferably in the engineering or manufacturing sector, with a proven track record in leadership and strategic planning.
  2. Comprehensive knowledge of QESH regulations and ISO standards, including detailed familiarity with EN 1090 EXC Class 2.
  3. Minimum NEBOSH General Certificate, or NEBOSH Construction Certificate required.
  4. Full UK driving License.
  5. Valid CSCS card desirable.
  6. Responsible Welding Coordinator qualifications are desirable.
