Job Title: Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team at Billy Associates LTD. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for designing and developing innovative mechanical solutions for our clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop mechanical products, including GSE products, with a focus on cost-effectiveness and high-quality materials.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Engineering and production team to develop design bespoke vehicles and metal products.
  • Ensure all design drawings are accurate, consistent, and of high quality.
  • Produce models, drawings, cut lists, jigs, and train on nesting software.
  • Develop and maintain a log of design issues to ensure effective issue management.
  • Source and select materials to meet customer requirements.
  • Implement structural and strength calculations to assess tolerance and stress analysis of mechanical components.
  • Prepare technical documentation, including design specifications, design reports, and procurement specifications.
  • Implement design changes, evaluating feasibility, cost, and timing, and gaining approval from the Head of Design.
  • Adhere to our ISO 9001 Quality Management System.
Requirements:
  • Higher Education Degree level qualification in an engineering or technical discipline.
  • At least 3 years' experience as a design engineer in a metal fabrication environment.
  • Experience with design software, such as AutoCad and Solidworks.
  • Technical/computer skills, including Solidworks, Pulse, Microsoft Office, and ERP systems.
  • A passion for engineering and a desire to be 'hands-on'.
