About the Role

We are seeking an experienced nurse to join our team in managing the two week wait pathway for patients referred for investigation into suspected gastrointestinal cancer.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and triage referrals using locally agreed proformas and facilitate the booking of investigations in a timely manner.
  • Communicate with patients over the phone, gaining further information to ensure safe triage, giving medication and pre-assessment advice, and offering information to facilitate investigations.
  • Follow up results from investigations, discharging or liaising with the patient, GP, and other members of the multidisciplinary team with outcomes if further investigations are required.
Requirements
  • Current first-level RN registration with NMC.
  • Education to degree level or evidence of equivalent experience.
  • Evidence of understanding and insight into current issues in nursing and the NHS.
  • Evidence of specialist knowledge and competency in the speciality.
  • IT literate and experienced.
