About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Purchasing Specialist to join our team at AMETEK, a leading global manufacturer of electronic instruments and electromechanical devices. As a Purchasing Specialist, you will play a critical role in driving down commodity costs through centralized purchasing activity, leveraging spend across our three sites and the wider Ametek group.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify opportunities to reduce costs through strategic purchasing and negotiate with suppliers to achieve the best possible prices.
  • Monitor and progress open purchase orders to ensure timely delivery and minimize stock outages.
  • Foster and maintain excellent supplier relationships, ensuring compliance with company and industry guidelines and regulations.
  • Source spare parts on the open inventory market, including next higher assemblies for parts teardown, to ensure stock availability.
  • Act on internal purchase requisition requests and procure commercial products from suppliers using the Ametek Ivalua E-procurement system.
  • Review Aeromedic inventory reports and purchase pharmaceutical products for the Aeromedical Business Unit.
  • Assist in resolving delivery, quality, and invoice issues with suppliers.
  • Arrange supplier product returns according to AEM returns policy and capture important information for supplier KPI performance assessment.
  • Support the engineering team with costing of spares, tooling, and consumables for engineering projects.
  • Attend daily Tier meetings to provide accurate and timely product information to support the Business Units.

Requirements

  • Experience in purchasing technical products and services to support engineering operations.
  • Knowledge of MRP purchasing and stock management systems.
  • Procurement experience within an engineering/manufacturing/technical background, fostering and managing supplier relationships.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office and ability to manipulate large amounts of data to produce reports and analytical results.
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings and product specifications.
