Job Title: Service Delivery Coordinator

We are seeking an experienced Service Delivery Coordinator to join our team at the Genomics Laboratory at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. As a key member of our Pathology Clinical Support Unit, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth delivery of our genomic testing services.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the service through the expanding demand of genomic testing and the new laboratory information management system (LIMS). You will work closely with clinical colleagues and the Senior Leadership Team to maximize the quality and productivity of our services while maintaining a focus on staff engagement and development.

Main Responsibilities
  1. Responsible for the direct delivery of the 24/7 service provided by the department across all sites of two Trusts.
  2. Line management responsibility for all staff, excluding medical staff and clinical scientists, across the whole department.
  3. Convene and support operational group meetings within the department and actively participate in CSU operational meetings.
  4. Ensure there are effective communications and management information systems within the department and contribute to same for CSU.
  5. Develop and coordinate systems to ensure the highest standard of performance, including CPA accreditation and participation in benchmarking.
  6. Responsible for ensuring the maintenance and inventory of equipment across the whole department.
  7. Ensure Health and Safety and Risk Management policies are implemented and monitored across the whole department.
  8. Ensure registration of all staff, excluding medical staff and clinical scientists, with required legislative bodies across the whole department.
  9. Ensure that the department is delivering and developing its services to meet clinical requirements as part of the Pathology CSU contribution to ensuring that the Trust can meet its national and local targets.
  10. Develop systems to assist senior staff within the department to implement financial responsibility and accountability.
  11. Analyse and interpret information on income and expenditure, workload and contract activity for the department, and ensure distribution of this information to senior staff.
  12. Coordinate the assessment of capital and revenue consequences of new equipment and altered demands on the service.
Person Specification
  • Managerial experience
  • Evidence of current CPD portfolio
  • Willingness to undertake further training as agreed.
Qualifications
  • Accredited Biomedical Science Degree or equivalent qualification acceptable to the Health Professions Council (HPA)
  • HPC registration.
Skills & behaviours
  • Evidence of an understanding and application of service improvement techniques.
  • Demonstrate and maintain a clear understanding of the contribution the service makes to key national agendas.
  • Knowledge of conventional IT business software e.g., Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent management and leadership skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to work flexibly to ensure a high-quality service.
  • Knowledge of advanced service improvement techniques.
  • Car owner holding a current driving license
