This is a fantastic opportunity for a knowledgeable Building Safety expert to join our dedicated Housing & Neighbourhoods Team.
The focus of this position is on all elements of the Building Safety Act 2022 and the Fire Safety Act 2021, providing a dynamic and engaging atmosphere for a solution-oriented individual who is passionate about building safety and the welfare of residents.
The successful applicant will be instrumental in ensuring the safety of our residents and the adherence of our properties to relevant regulations.
Responsibilities of Building Safety Management:
- Ensure all properties under your supervision comply with the Building Safety Act 2022 and other applicable regulations.
- Maintain comprehensive records of safety evaluations, inspections, and compliance documentation.
- Safety Cases: Create and uphold detailed safety cases for higher-risk properties, outlining the safety measures implemented, identified hazards, and strategies for risk reduction. Regularly review and update safety cases to reflect any modifications in the property, its usage, or the regulatory landscape. Ensure that safety cases are accessible to regulatory authorities and other stakeholders as necessary.
- Resident Interaction: Serve as the primary contact for residents regarding building safety matters. Provide clear and understandable information to residents about safety measures and their responsibilities. Engage with residents consistently to address their concerns and ensure their feedback is integrated into safety strategies.
- Safety Management Systems: Develop and sustain effective safety management systems and protocols. Ensure regular fire risk assessments and other safety inspections are performed and documented. Oversee the implementation of safety measures, ensuring they are effective and current.
- Collaborate closely with the Head of Building Safety and Building Safety Officer, as well as other team members, to incorporate safety measures into maintenance and coordinate with external contractors, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and standards. Liaise with regulatory bodies to ensure all statutory notifications and reporting obligations are fulfilled.
- Training and Development: Ensure that all personnel and contractors receive adequate training in building safety protocols and the requirements of the Building Safety Act 2022. Foster a culture of safety awareness and continuous improvement within the organization.
- Conduct regular drills and training sessions to ensure readiness for any safety incidents.
- Continuously monitor and evaluate building safety practices to identify areas for enhancement. Implement new safety initiatives and best practices to improve overall building safety.
