Behaviour Support Assistant Role

Main Areas of Responsibility
  • Support the consistent implementation of our behaviour policy
  • Ensure the calm and purposeful movement of students into/out of the academy and around the academy between lessons
  • Work with the behaviour team to monitor and supervise students before school, during break and throughout lunch
  • Manage detentions every afternoon
  • Liaise with the academy and local community on behaviour issues
  • Oversee the entrance of students into the breakfast club
  • Ensure students enter the building in full academy uniform
  • Award faculty points as appropriate
  • Follow up on students failing to meet academy standards
  • Design and deliver enrichment and sporting activities
  • Investigate behavioural issues and take statements from students
  • Mentor students on PSPs and present progress reports
  • Prepare students' files for disciplinary panels or exclusion hearings
  • Ensure student safety issues are passed on to academy colleagues
  • Supervise students internally excluded and support re-integration
  • Liaise with teaching staff and parents/carers on student transition
  • Maintain a calm and purposeful learning environment
  • Follow up on truancy and attendance concerns
  • Reduce potential permanent exclusion by offering alternative curriculum
Requirements
  • Experience and training in trauma and attachment
  • SEMH, ADHD, autism and ODD experience
  • Flexibility, calmness and ability to support the Academy's ethos
