* Assist the Principal Social Care Lawyer in ensuring the Council receives cost-effective high-quality legal advice and representation that enables it to determine its policies and achieve its objectives within the scope of its powers and capabilities.
* Act as in-house advocate in all Social Services matters, including all aspects of public law proceedings.
* Provide high-level and proactive advice and assistance in Social Services law.
* Support the Principal Lawyer in an in-house project to reduce expenditure on Counsel.
* Lead on behalf of the Principal Lawyer on the Council's in-house training scheme in respect of pupil barristers and trainee solicitors.

Requirements:

* Be available to work immediately or at short notice.
* Have the right to work in the U.K.
