Job Summary:
- Design and develop advanced submarine designs using knowledge of hydrostatics, hydrodynamics, seamanship & outfit, infrastructure or whole boat design
- Support the largest shipbuilding programmes in the UK, including sea trials, experiments and commissioning activities
- Conduct research and development activities to develop world-leading capabilities in naval architecture
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and development of submarine designs, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support the development of shipbuilding programmes, including stability and hydrostatics, infrastructure support, seamanship and outfit, manoeuvring and control, fluid dynamics, design and development
- Develop and maintain technical reports and presentations to communicate design and development progress to stakeholders
Requirements:
- Chartered Engineer status with RINA and a good understanding of marine design
- Experience of stability or manoeuvring assessments, design or build support
- Good technical report writing and presentation skills
- Previous experience working on defence projects

About the Naval Architecture Department:
As a Principal Naval Architect, you will be a key member in one of the largest and fastest growing Naval Architecture Departments in the UK. You will be working on some of the most complex ship design and build programmes ever undertaken to deliver cutting edge submarines to the Royal Navy and Royal Australian Navy.
This role will provide you with the chance to work on submarines at all stages of the product life cycle from early design to build support and commission. The Naval Architecture Department comprises teams specialising in weights engineering, stability and hydrostatics, infrastructure support, seamanship and outfit, manoeuvring and control, fluid dynamics, design and development.
