About the Role

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Residential Childcare Worker to join our team at West Sussex County Council. As a key member of our childcare team, you will play a vital role in providing a nurturing and safe environment for our children and young people.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality care and support to designated children or young people, ensuring their physical, emotional, and social needs are met.
  • Develop and implement individual care plans, working closely with colleagues and external agencies to ensure the best possible outcomes.
  • Contribute to a positive and respectful team culture, promoting a sense of community and belonging among children, young people, and staff.
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge in residential childcare.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to maintain a safe and healthy environment, adhering to statutory regulations and guidelines.

Requirements

  • Good standard of literacy, with the ability to write reports and applications.
  • Grade D or above (3+) in GCSE Maths and English (Grade C or above (4-9) preferred).
  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent, with a commitment to achieving this qualification within two years of appointment.
  • Desirable skills and experience include awareness of child development needs, knowledge of children's home regulations, and experience working with children with disabilities.
