Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Learning Support Assistant - ASN at Meadowpark Communication Provision in East Lothian. This is an exciting opportunity to work with secondary-aged pupils with autism and associated complex needs, providing individualized and adapted support to enhance their learning and engagement.

About the Role

As a Learning Support Assistant - ASN, you will provide care and assistance to individuals and small groups of pupils with additional support needs. This will involve working closely with teachers and other support staff to develop and implement personalized learning plans, promoting the inclusion and participation of all pupils in the classroom.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized support to pupils with additional support needs, including those with autism and complex needs
  • Assist teachers in developing and implementing personalized learning plans
  • Support pupils in accessing the curriculum and participating in classroom activities
  • Work collaboratively with other support staff to ensure a consistent and high-quality support service
  • Contribute to the development of a positive and inclusive learning environment

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

Experience of working with young people with additional support needs, particularly those with autism and complex needsA knowledge and understanding of autism and social/emotional needsA commitment to ongoing professional developmentExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsA patient and empathetic approach to working with pupils with additional support needs
