About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled External Communications Manager to join our team at James Fisher and Sons plc. As a key member of our Communications and Marketing Team, you will be responsible for establishing a new external communications strategy and messaging for the company, enhancing our brand reputation across Energy, Defence, and Maritime Transport.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive external communications plan, including media relations, press releases, technical and thought leadership, social media, and campaigns and events.
  • Work closely with our Group Corporate Communications and Marketing Teams to understand our business, markets, and customers, and develop annual and long-term external communications plans.
  • Play a key role in the company's rebrand in 2024, leading external communications activity.
  • Manage and work closely with our PR and creative agencies to deliver maximum value from our partnerships.
  • Monitor and measure external communications activity to demonstrate impact and ROI.
  • Act as a brand ambassador for the company and champion exceptional safety as our top priority.
Requirements:
  • Strong on-the-job experience in a similar role, preferably in a B2B industry.
  • University/college degree in communications or business, or related field.
  • Experience in a similar or technical industry, such as Maritime, Defence, or Energy.
  • Strong strategic and change management mindset, with the ability to drive new ways of thinking and working.
  • Established relationships with key media, from trade to regional and national.
  • Proactive, organized, agile, and adaptable, with outstanding interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
