About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Ecologist to join our team at Latcom Ltd as a Principal Ecologist. This is a fully remote position, allowing you to work from home and in the field in your local area.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Management: Lead the project management of UK Habitat Classification Surveys, protected species surveys, and other ecological projects.
  • Tendering and Quotations: Develop and submit complex fee quotations for tenders, ensuring timely and accurate delivery.
  • Technical Reporting: Produce high-quality technical reports, including PEA reports, BNG reports, protected species reports, Habitat Management Plans, and BREEAM reports.
  • Project Financial Management: Manage medium to large-sized projects, tracking financial progress and ensuring budget adherence.
  • Line Management: Supervise and mentor junior ecologists, providing guidance and support to ensure their professional development.
  • Logistical and Legislative Problem Solving: Resolve complex logistical and legislative issues, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and laws.
Requirements
  • Professional Qualifications: Full membership of the Chartered Institute of Ecology & Environmental Management (MCIEEM) and a relevant bachelor's degree (or higher).
  • Licenses and Certifications: At least one protected species license and a Personal Track Safety accreditation (desirable).
  • Desirable Skills: Construction/Civils background or knowledge, delivery phase project management experience, interest in Habitat Creation, excellent knowledge of Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG), prioritization and time management skills, high attention to detail, and strong communication skills.
  • Personal Qualities: Personable, team player, and able to work effectively in a remote environment.
