Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Associate Director to join our growing Transport/Highways team with a focus on supporting the growth of our team in South West England. The successful candidate will have strong experience in transport planning and highway design, including S38 / S278 design.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Technical Director for the South West team in managing project delivery and managing staff, including development of early careers colleagues as part of their Learning and Development.
  • Manage projects across a wide range of transport planning and / or highway design areas, including site feasibility, Transport Assessments, Travel Plans, and site access design.
  • Be responsible for teams delivering high-quality technical work and for developing staff skills through project delivery.
  • Prepare technical reports, strategies, and transport solutions.
  • Implement Traffic and Transport methodologies with the assistance of the supporting technical team.
  • Liaise with clients and local / national authorities.
  • Resolve problems or issues to support the delivery of projects or design objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant health and safety legislation in working practices.
Requirements
  • Degree in Transport, Mathematics, Geography, Civil Engineering, Planning, or a related subject (essential).
  • A minimum of 10 years of Transport Planning experience (the level of experience will determine what level you come in as).
  • Demonstrable track record in winning and delivering projects.
  • Experience in highway / junction design at least at the concept and preliminary design level.
  • Experience of working with public and private sector clients.
  • Experience in delivering a range of projects across different land uses and scales.
  • Efficient communication skills, excellent level of written and spoken English.
  • MSc in Transport Planning/Engineering.
  • Project Management in a range of projects at both low and higher values.
  • Knowledge of current transport and highway policy.
  • Report Writing.
  • Customer Relations Management.
