Pharmacy Technician, Higher Level Specialist Mental Health

Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced pharmacy technician to join our specialist pharmacy dispensary team at Chelford Court in Chelmsford. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing essential pharmacy services, including dispensing, accuracy checking, and Clozapine management across Essex and Suffolk.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process prescriptions using the pharmacy IT system and perform final checks on clinically screened prescriptions and orders prepared by other pharmacy staff.
  • Assess the suitability of pharmaceutical products for return to stock and return items using the pharmacy IT system or dispose of according to departmental procedure.
  • Process ward stock orders using the pharmacy IT system and pick and package orders for delivery.
  • Take an active role in the pharmacy team and provide support to less experienced staff.
  • Seek advice from senior pharmacy colleagues as needed to provide advice to clinicians.
  • Participate in weekend, bank holiday, early, and late working rotas as required.
  • Undertake training at ward level to expand skills and maintain clinical knowledge.
  • Contribute to the education and training of new staff members, including pre-registration pharmacy technicians.

Requirements:

  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification.
  • Pharmacy experience, preferably in a hospital setting.
  • Accuracy checking skills.
  • Self-motivation and evidence of staff management.
  • Evidence of education and training.
