Transport Operations Manager

Job Summary:
MRD Recruitment is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Transport Shift Manager to join our leading Logistics client based in Uddingston. As a key member of the transport team, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a team of drivers and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operational Planning: Collaborate with other teams to deliver the daily plan, maintaining budgeted costs and planning shift resources to achieve agreed service levels.
- Shift Management: Take ownership of shift plans, updating senior management regularly on progress, including aspects on safety, loss and damage, and rota management.
- Team Leadership: Support the General Manager in developing a plan in line with forecasted volumes, promoting consistency to ensure compliance and standards of quality, service, safety, and security are met.
- Route Optimization: Ensure the accurate planning of routes to maximize efficiency and performance.
- Financial Management: Manage the budget to achieve agreed service levels, including productivity, labor costs, and overtime usage, actively minimizing indirect costs.
- Quality Assurance: Monitor quality and highlight continuous improvement solutions in relation to the operation and compliance, ensuring the team is briefed on changes and trained to achieve targets.
- Compliance and Safety: Ensure all driver compliance in depots, working closely with the Transport Manager to prioritize safe and legal practices.
- Health and Safety: Oversee all H&S matters, including safe loading, hygiene, quality audits, risk assessments, and safe systems of work on your shift.
- Team Development: Lead your team through setting high standards in all people aspects, such as recruitment, onboarding, induction, attrition, sickness and absence, employee relations, development, and recognition, maintaining the accuracy of information on all internal systems.
Requirements:
- Qualifications: Full Driving License, CPC National Certificate (desirable), IOSH Qualified, PC Literate.
- Experience: Experience in working with a large team, good knowledge and experience in operational processes, experience of working in a fast-paced, performance-driven business with key focuses on delivering budgets, KPIs, and SLAs, experience working to O License regulations or willingness to be trained.
