Job Summary:

MRD Recruitment is seeking a highly skilled Transport Shift Manager to join our leading Logistics client based in Uddingston. As a key member of the transport team, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a team of drivers, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, and championing quality and service standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operational Planning: Collaborate with other teams to deliver the daily plan, maintaining budgeted costs and planning shift resources to achieve agreed service levels.
  • Shift Management: Take ownership of shift plans, updating senior management regularly on progress, including aspects on safety, loss and damage, and rota management.
  • Team Leadership: Support the General Manager in developing a plan in line with forecasted volumes, promoting consistency and driving compliance and standards of quality, service, safety, and security.
  • Route Optimization: Ensure accurate planning of routes to maximize efficiency and performance.
  • Financial Management: Manage the budget to achieve agreed service levels, including productivity, labor costs, and overtime usage, actively minimizing indirect costs.
  • Quality Assurance: Monitor quality and highlight continuous improvement solutions in relation to the operation and compliance, ensuring the team is briefed on changes and trained to achieve targets.
  • Compliance and Safety: Ensure all driver compliance in depots, working closely with the Transport Manager to prioritize safe and legal practices.
  • Health and Safety: Oversee all H&S matters, including safe loading, hygiene, quality audits, risk assessments, and safe systems of work on your shift.
  • Team Development: Lead your team through setting high standards in all people aspects, such as recruitment, onboarding, induction, attrition, sickness and absence, employee relations, development, and recognition.

Requirements:

  • Full Driving License
  • CPC National Certificate (desirable)
  • Good Maths and English skills (written and verbal)
  • IOSH Qualified
  • PC Literate
  • Experience in working with a large team
  • Good knowledge and experience in operational processes
  • Experience of working in a fast-paced, performance-driven business with key focuses on delivering budgets, KPIs, and SLAs.
  • Experience working to O License regulations or willingness to be trained.
