About the Role
University Hospital Southampton NHS Trust is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Governance and Risk Manager to join our team as a Divisional Governance Manager. This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with the divisional and care group management teams, and staff members across the Trust, to support the day-to-day delivery and development of the governance agenda across Division C.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Divisional Management Team in developing and implementing governance policies and procedures.
- Lead the governance team in identifying and mitigating risks, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Develop and maintain a robust risk management programme in collaboration with clinical teams.
- Provide expert advice on governance and risk management to clinical and management teams.
- Lead patient safety investigations with a focus on a systems-based learning approach and just culture.
- Oversee all workstreams within the governance portfolio, ensuring that risks and gaps in compliance are proactively identified and addressed.
About the Team
The governance team is a small team of 7 who are eager to embrace the Trust values and deliver excellence in healthcare. We work closely with the divisional and care group management teams, and staff members across the Trust, to support the day-to-day delivery and development of the governance agenda.

Requirements
- First Degree level or equivalent level of relevant experience.
- Experience working at a senior level within an acute NHS setting.
- Practical experience in at least one area of clinical governance (e.g. clinical risk management, complaints, clinical effectiveness, patient involvement training and development).
- Experience of managing projects, deadlines and fluctuating workloads.
- Line management experience.
