Job Title: Health, Safety, and Risk Manager

Gloucestershire Managed Services (GMS) is a leading provider of healthcare estate and facilities services to Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. We are seeking a highly skilled Health, Safety, and Risk Manager to lead our health and safety initiatives, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement.

Role Overview:

As the Health, Safety, and Risk Manager, you will report to the Head of Compliance Health & Safety and be responsible for health and safety across GMS. You will provide expert advice to staff, managers, and contractors, developing and implementing strategies to ensure compliance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and relevant legislation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the development of GMS's health and safety strategy in collaboration with senior management.
  • Manage health and safety audits, ensuring all policies are up-to-date and in compliance with national standards.
  • Oversee the risk management system, ensuring accurate reporting and risk assessment training for staff.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for health and safety inquiries, providing guidance and practical support.
  • Produce detailed reports for GMS's Governance and Compliance Committee, analysing trends and incident data.
  • Facilitate the GMS Health and Safety Group and develop a workplace safety representative forum.
  • Ensure the continuous professional development of staff in health and safety matters, approving resources for training and education.
Requirements:
  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent qualification in health and safety.
  • Extensive experience (minimum 5 years) in managing health and safety in an estates or facilities management environment.
  • Proven track record in implementing governance systems and leading health and safety initiatives.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, capable of driving change and fostering a culture of safety.
