About Us: The Digital Preservation Coalition is a world-leading research facility, bringing together scientists and engineers from almost every field to help preserve digital data and promote digital preservation.
Job Summary: We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Research Data Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for bringing best practice from software development into scientific data management to drive our digital preservation program.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop data architectures, protocols, and software tools to promote the FAIR principles (making data findable, accessible, inter-operable, and reusable) and enable knowledge representation and reasoning.
- Work across the entire data pipeline, from configuring data sources to integrating analytical tools.
- Collaborate with our world-leading scientists and engineers to advance our research and promote digital preservation.
- Develop and maintain data structures and storage architectures for advanced materials.
- Define data quality metrics for medical data sets used to train machine learning systems.
- Build information models to represent scientific experiments.
- Identify, design, and implement improved research data processing: automating manual data capture, optimizing data delivery, redesigning infrastructure for greater scalability, etc.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in data engineering and software development.
- Strong understanding of data management principles and practices.
- Experience with data architectures, protocols, and software tools.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks.
