Grangetown Community, United Kingdom Vision for Education - Cardiff Full time
Position: Teaching Assistant – Behavioral Support

Are you skilled in assisting individuals with challenging behaviors?
Do you have a passion for serving as a positive influence for students from underprivileged backgrounds?
Are you interested in a competitive weekly salary ranging from £417 to £482?
Do you seek opportunities for professional development?
We offer a company pension scheme along with additional benefits.

About the Role:
Vision for Education is actively seeking individuals with experience in supporting children or adults who exhibit social, emotional, and behavioral difficulties (SEBD) in the Cardiff region.

We collaborate closely with a pupil referral unit (PRU) that requires a teaching assistant to work with students on both a one-on-one and small group basis. Often, these students are mischaracterized as 'troublesome,' but they typically come from challenging backgrounds where school serves as their safe haven. Your influence can truly make a significant impact.

The school is in search of someone dedicated to guiding these students positively and serving as a role model. This role necessitates building constructive relationships and proactively de-escalating potential behavioral issues.

If you identify triggers that may agitate students, you will have the flexibility to remove them from the situation to help them regain composure and re-engage with their studies.

Key Responsibilities:
- Work with primary and secondary aged students.
- Establish strong, trusting relationships.
- Provide support in small groups or on a one-on-one basis.
- Demonstrate resilience while assisting individuals through challenging situations.
- Collaborate with the class teacher to assess and address the needs of students, supporting their learning both inside and outside the classroom.
- Encourage cooperative interaction among students and engage all in activities.
- Utilize positive reinforcement techniques to foster a conducive learning environment.

Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate will possess one or more of the following qualifications:
- Previous experience working with students exhibiting challenging behaviors and social, emotional, and mental health difficulties (SEMH).
- A Team-Teach qualification or relevant certification (e.g., PROACT-SCIP/MAPA) is highly desirable but not mandatory.
- An understanding of the significance of maintaining an engaging and stimulating learning atmosphere.
- Experience supporting primary or secondary aged students.
- A flexible, proactive, empathetic, and creative approach is essential.
- Patience and calmness under pressure.
- Familiarity with the National Curriculum.
- Registration (or willingness to register) with the Education Workforce Council (EWC) is required.

The school is known for placing individuals on a permanent basis once they demonstrate hard work, reliability, and commitment. We welcome applicants from various backgrounds, including support work, care, sports, and education. If you have a genuine interest and believe you would be a strong candidate, we encourage you to apply.
