Postdoctoral Research Associate in Condensed Matter Physics

We are seeking a highly skilled Postdoctoral Research Associate to join our team in the Department of Physics at Durham University. The successful candidate will work with Professors Tom Lancaster and Peter Hatton on a new EPSRC-funded project, "Controlling the formation and properties of topological magnetic phenomena".
Key Responsibilities- Conduct high-quality academic research in experimental condensed matter physics, utilizing state-of-the-art facility-based techniques.
- Prepare and deliver presentations on research outputs and activities to various audiences, including research sponsors, academic and non-academic audiences.
- Publish high-quality outputs, including papers for submission to peer-reviewed journals and presentations at conferences and workshops.
- Assist with the development of research objectives and proposals.
- Conduct individual and collaborative research projects under the direction of the Principal Investigator or Grant-holder.
- Work with the Principal Investigator or Grant-holder and other colleagues to identify areas for research, develop new research methods, and extend the research portfolio.
- Deal with problems affecting research objectives and deadlines by discussing with the Principal Investigator or Grant-holder and offering creative solutions.
- Liaise with research colleagues and make internal and external contacts to develop knowledge and understanding for future research collaboration.
- Plan and manage own research activity, research resources, and contribute to the planning of research projects.
- Deliver training in research techniques and approaches to peers, visitors, and students as appropriate.
- Be involved in student supervision and assist with the assessment of student knowledge.
- Contribute to fostering a collegial working environment that is inclusive and welcoming.
- Engage in citizenship to support the department and wider discipline.
- Engage in continuing professional development by participating in teaching programs or departmental committees and attending relevant training courses.
- Communicate and collaborate with industrial partners.
