We are seeking an experienced Quarry Manager to join our team at Tarmac Stowfield Quarry and Asphalt Plant in the Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire.
Main Responsibilities:- Manage and be accountable for all quarrying and asphalt plant operations on the site.
- Ensure safety and operational standards are maintained, with a focus on cost control, people management, delivery to customer needs, and performance improvement.
- Manage plant compliance with business policies and procedures, and ensure legislative compliance.
- Manage, coach, and develop a highly skilled team using KPIs to ensure business continuity and reduce business risk.
- Manage all aspects of budgetary control for all quarrying operations and produce operational reports.
- Maintain and implement existing and new Standard Operating Procedures, risk assessments, and training for staff.
- Manage the safe operation of the Quarry and Asphalt Plant and the planned preventative maintenance of all site equipment.
- Ensure the plant meets operational and production requirements.
- Manage proactively both mandatory training and developmental training of staff and maintain an up-to-date training matrix.
- Collate and report on monthly performance KPIs for the business unit.
- Ensure a one-team approach with buy-in from all staff to maximize outputs and have clear working goals.
- Experience in Quarrying operations or a similar working environment.
- Good understanding of Quarry Regulations 1999 as a Regulation 8.1(c) appointment.
- Diploma in Quarry Technology/FdSc Extractives Technology (or similar qualification).
- SHE NVQ Level 4 or QCF Level 6.
- Knowledge of techniques employed to load extracted minerals and viable options to transport extracted minerals and its applications within the industry.
- Understanding different methods of winning and extracting raw material.
- Full knowledge of Risk Assessments and Safe System of Work Systems.
- Working knowledge of production processes, H&S and Environmental policies.
- Strong drive for continuous improvement to reduce costs where possible and minimize waste streams through effective monitoring and processing.
- Strong IT skills including SAP (preferred) and Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to multitask and effectively manage change.
- Ability to manage staff effectively and empower them to make good decisions.
- IOSH/NEBOSH would be advantageous.
