Deputy Ward Manager – Acute

We are currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Deputy Ward Manager to join our client's acute mental health unit. This unit provides 24-hour admission services for adult male and female patients, offering crisis support and therapeutic engagement during inpatient stays.

Responsibilities
  • Provide senior nursing leadership to the ward nursing team, supporting the Ward Manager in all aspects of daily operations.
  • Supervise a team of registered and unregistered staff, ensuring high standards of care are maintained.
  • Implement best practices across the ward, promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to service development initiatives, supporting positive change within the unit.
  • Take clinical responsibility for the delivery of personalized care plans, ensuring they meet regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate effectively with the multidisciplinary team (MDT), including nurses, doctors, occupational therapists, and psychologists.
  • Support the implementation and evaluation of therapeutic interventions within a comprehensive care program.
Requirements
  • Active registration with the NMC, meeting the requirements for Revalidation.
  • Proven experience in clinical supervision, with training desirable.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development (CPD) and evidence of participation in relevant activities.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate and guide a team effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, fostering positive relationships with patients, staff, and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in computer systems and electronic health records.
  • Minimum of 3 years post-registration experience in mental health or learning disability services.
