The Role
We are looking for a dedicated, empathetic, and resilient SEN Support Assistant to join our team. In this position, you will assist students with challenging behaviours, guiding them towards achieving their maximum potential.

Your collaboration with educators, the SENCo, and other support personnel will be crucial in fostering a positive and structured learning environment that promotes both academic and personal growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualized and group support: Assist students with challenging behaviours in regulating their emotions and actions, ensuring their active participation in learning.
  • Implement behaviour management techniques: Collaborate with the SENCo and teaching staff to design and execute effective behaviour management strategies.
  • Support educational progress: Aid students in comprehending and engaging with the curriculum, offering customized assistance as needed.
  • Foster a secure learning environment: Ensure the classroom remains a safe and supportive space for all students.
  • Collaborate with staff and families: Maintain open lines of communication with educators, support staff, and families to ensure consistent support for each student.
  • Assist with personal care needs: When necessary, provide personal care support to students, always prioritizing their dignity and comfort.

About You

Experience:
Previous experience working with children with SEN and/or challenging behaviours is essential.

Qualifications:
A relevant qualification (e.g., CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Supporting Teaching and Learning) is desirable but not mandatory.

Skills:
Excellent interpersonal skills, patience, resilience, and the ability to remain composed under pressure.

Knowledge:
Familiarity with various behaviour management techniques and an understanding of SEN practices.

Attitude:
A positive, empathetic approach to working with children and a commitment to their development and wellbeing.
