We are seeking a skilled Transport Shift Operator to join our team on a full-time, permanent basis. As a key member of our logistics operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and effective running of our transport function.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operations Management
    • Coordinate the booking and dispatch of a team of drivers, shunters, and warehouse operatives
    • Manage the booking of sub-contract vehicles and drivers into site
    • Ensure timely loading of vehicles on site
    • Dispatch drivers and communicate with customers
    • Support the Shift Management team with customer ETA's, haulier, and supplier communication
    • Process debrief paperwork and file accurately and securely
    • Provide proof of delivery to customers
    • Liaise with external hauliers
    • Assist with operational planning and maintenance planning
    • Report on key performance indicators (KPIs)
    • Schedule and allocate deliveries to over 40 articulated vehicles
    • Build relationships with third-party hauliers and internal XPO sites
    • Maximise vehicle utilisation
  • Service Level Management
    • Ensure deliveries are made on time
    • Report late deliveries to customers
    • Ensure all site and contract, personnel, and fleet administration paperwork is checked, processed, and filed or securely stored
    • Ensure all customer paperwork is checked and stored securely for efficient document retrieval

Requirements:

  • Essential: 1-2 years of experience working within a transport office or office environment
  • Essential: Strong communication and administration skills, able to handle different personality types
  • Essential: Great organisational skills, management capability, and strong influencing skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office packages, including Word and Excel, would be an advantage but training will be provided
