About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, contributing to the delivery of high-quality patient care. As an Inpatient Physiotherapy Technical Instructor, you will have the chance to supervise, initiate, and participate in evidence-based projects, including recommendations for change in practice.

Main Responsibilities
  • Carry a caseload of patients within a defined clinical area, including complex conditions, as delegated by the physiotherapist.
  • Assess and treat patients, maintaining accurate patient records and utilising knowledge and skills gained through attainment of competencies, experience, and relevant qualifications.
  • Perform clinical tasks, such as instruction, supervision, and prescription of individual and group exercise programmes, delegated by qualified staff.
  • Supervise and train students, rotational staff, and other therapy assistants, taking on a lead role with line management responsibilities for Band 3's within the team.
  • Contribute to patient flow through the hospital, ensuring timely discharge by ordering and monitoring equipment maintenance and the environment.
  • Support the team with administrative tasks, such as completing onward referrals to health and social care partners.

Person Specification

Essential Qualifications and Experience

  • GCSE or equivalent qualification in English and mathematics at grade C or above.
  • Experience working within a health or social care services setting, with adults with a range of illnesses or disabilities.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the therapy assistant role gained through previous employment or work/life experience.
  • Be able to communicate effectively using verbal, non-verbal, and written methods.
  • Be able to keep legible and accurate written notes in English in accordance with agreed standards.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

  • Acute ward experience.
  • Leading and delivering exercise programmes in a hospital setting or equivalent.
  • Working with patients on a group basis.
  • Management of therapy equipment, including monitoring use and ensuring maintenance.
