Care Assistant - Overview:
At The Meath Epilepsy Charity, our residents are central to our mission. Through personalized planning, we ensure that each individual is supported in achieving their aspirations while maintaining their autonomy.
Care Assistant - Role Objective: To provide assistance in the personal, rehabilitative, and social care of residents.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Delivering direct care tailored to the specific needs of each resident as outlined in their care plan.
- Adhering to all organizational policies and procedures.
- Supporting residents with personal care as required.
- Managing and storing prescribed medications in accordance with legal standards.
- Assisting residents with mobility when necessary.
- Aiding residents with their eating as needed.
- Overseeing and assisting in the preparation and serving of meals and beverages.
- Ensuring that each resident receives a nutritious diet.
- Communicating relevant information about residents to team members to ensure that care plans are updated and appropriate care is provided, paying attention to any changes in the resident's physical, medical, or psychological state.
- Promptly reporting any accidents or unusual incidents involving residents, staff, or visitors to senior personnel.
- Being aware of the procedures to follow in line with Safeguarding Adults at Risk Policies in the event of witnessing or being informed of any allegations of abuse.
- Following medication handling procedures, including requesting a senior staff member to administer any prescribed medication as needed.
- Participating in one-on-one supervision meetings with your line manager every six weeks.
- Complying with any reasonable instructions given by your line manager or senior management as required.
- Performing any other reasonable tasks as needed.
- Familiarizing yourself with and implementing The Meath's policies and procedures. The responsibilities outlined above do not represent a complete list of tasks expected of the post holder. Additional tasks may be required for the effective execution of the role and related duties.
Experience, Knowledge, and Qualifications for this Role:
Ability to communicate effectively with the general public, trustees, professional organizations, and all other stakeholders on behalf of The Meath, both in writing and verbally, along with proficient knowledge of Word, Excel, and other software systems.
Essential:

- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team
- Flexibility, reliability, and punctuality
- Willingness to engage in relevant training to maintain high operational and safety standards
- High level of confidentiality regarding all matters at The Meath.
Desirable:
Familiarity with CQC requirements and possession of a relevant Health and Social Care qualification or a willingness to pursue such a qualification.
