About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Waste and Environmental Manager to join our facilities team at the Queen Victoria Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
Key Responsibilities
- To develop and implement effective waste management strategies to minimize waste and maximize recycling.
- To ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and regulations related to waste management.
- To collaborate with the sustainability team to achieve the Trust's goal of becoming a 'Net Zero' National Health Service.
- To lead in the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to waste management.
- To provide training and guidance to staff on waste management best practices.
- To conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with waste management regulations.
- To identify and implement cost-saving initiatives related to waste management.
Requirements
- Degree-level qualification in a science-based, waste, or environmental management-related subject or equivalent experience.
- Professional qualification in waste or environmental management or equivalent (HNC, HND, NEBOSH, C&G, NVQ etc).
- Membership of a relevant professional body such as the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA) or equivalent.
- Experience in one or more of sustainability, waste management, environmental management, or Net Zero Carbon.
- Experience of working in a reactive and pressurized environment.
