Position Overview

Orbit Group is excited to announce an opening for a Health and Safety Assurance Consultant, specializing in fire safety practices, to enhance our team in delivering essential services to our employees, clients, and partners in the southern regions.

The Health and Safety Assurance Consultant will assist the Health & Building Safety Assurance Lead in the execution and ongoing management of a comprehensive Health and Safety Management System across the organization, ensuring compliance with legal standards and promoting excellence in service delivery. You will act as a fire safety authority, collaborating with public fire services to uphold fire safety standards for our southern properties.

The ideal candidate will be situated in the southern region and will typically oversee the defined responsibilities across our outer London and southern counties.

This role is part of our Corporate Services division, where you will provide vital support to empower our colleagues to excel.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in meetings and audits with Fire Safety Authorities concerning Orbit's property portfolio, engaging in discussions and, when necessary, challenging their findings.
  • Facilitate group-wide assurance on CDM and Building Safety compliance, acting as a liaison with external organizations such as HSE, Fire Authorities, and Environmental Health as needed.
  • Conduct Fire Risk Assessments (FRAs), FRA Audits, and other relevant evaluations as required.
  • Provide expert advice, guidance, and support on all health and safety matters, particularly fire safety, and assist in delivering Health and Safety training to the Group's staff as necessary.
  • Aid in the review and reporting of Health & Safety Compliance throughout the organization.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external agencies as needed, and participate in Health & Safety Committees.

Required Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Strong communication abilities.
  • Qualified and capable of performing Fire Risk Assessments and Inspections of occupied buildings, with a solid understanding of Fire Safety Regulations, best practices, and current industry standards.
  • Willingness and ability to travel.
  • Knowledge of current health and safety legislation, regulations, and codes of practice.
  • Proven experience in effectively managing and monitoring health and safety activities across a multi-site organization.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with CDM Regulations.
  • Tech IOSH or equivalent certification.
