Role Overview
Orbit Group is excited to announce an opening for a Health and Safety Assurance Advisor, specializing in fire safety practices. This position is crucial in delivering essential services to our employees, clients, and partners across the southern regions.
As a Health and Safety Assurance Advisor, you will assist the Health & Building Safety Assurance Lead in executing and maintaining a comprehensive Health and Safety Management System across the organization. Your expertise in fire safety will be vital in collaborating with fire services to ensure the safety of our properties.
The successful candidate will primarily operate in the southern regions, covering designated responsibilities within our outer London and surrounding counties.
This position is part of our Corporate Services team, where your contributions will empower colleagues to excel.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in meetings and audits with Fire Safety Authorities regarding Orbit's property portfolio, providing insights and, when necessary, challenging their findings.
- Support the organization-wide assurance on Construction Design and Management (CDM) and Building Safety compliance, liaising with external agencies such as Health and Safety Executive (HSE), Fire Authorities, and Environmental Health as needed.
- Conduct Fire Risk Assessments (FRAs), FRA Audits, and other relevant evaluations as required.
- Offer guidance and support on health and safety matters, with a primary focus on fire safety, and assist in delivering health and safety training to staff.
- Assist in reviewing and reporting on Health & Safety compliance throughout the organization.
- Engage with internal stakeholders and external agencies as necessary, including participation in Health & Safety Committees.
Qualifications and Skills
Essential Skills
- Strong communication abilities.
- Qualified and capable of performing Fire Risk Assessments and Inspections of occupied buildings, with a solid understanding of Fire Safety Regulations and industry standards.
- Willingness and ability to travel as required.
- Comprehensive knowledge of current health and safety legislation, regulations, and best practices.
- Proven experience in effectively managing health and safety activities across multiple sites.
Desirable Skills
- Familiarity with CDM Regulations.
- Tech IOSH or equivalent certification.
