Role Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistant to join our team at a small secondary school in the High Peak area. The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher to provide learning support, pastoral care, and behaviour management to students with Social, Emotional, or Mental Health needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individualized support to students with SEMH needs, promoting their social, emotional, and academic development.
  • Work collaboratively with the class teacher to develop and implement personalized learning plans.
  • Support students in accessing the curriculum, including numeracy and literacy skills.
  • Promote a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and other professionals to ensure seamless support.
Requirements
  • Enhanced DBS certificate on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain).
  • Minimum of two professional references.
  • Valid right to work in the UK.
  • Experience supporting children with special needs.
  • Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable).
