Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Consultant Colorectal Surgeon with a specialized focus on inflammatory bowel disease, including ileo-anal pouch procedures. This is a full-time role comprising 10 Programmed Activities (PAs).

Our commitment to advancing surgical techniques and innovations is reflected in the comprehensive services we provide.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver exceptional surgical care, particularly in colorectal surgery.
  • Engage in the development of future services within a well-established unit.
  • Participate in clinical duties across two sites, ensuring high standards of patient care.
  • Contribute to the on-call general surgery team, providing support during out-of-hours and weekend shifts.
Qualifications

Applicants must possess:

  • Full GMC registration.
  • Entry on the Specialist Register for General Surgery via CCT or CESR (CP).
  • Evidence of exemplary technical skills in colorectal surgery.
Team Structure

The colorectal team comprises 11 consultants, along with a range of surgical trainees and support staff, including:

  • 6 ST places
  • 3 CST
  • 3 FY2
  • 10 FY1
  • Dedicated surgical assistants and a full-time IBD nurse.
Additional Information

This position includes full secretarial support and a dedicated office space. The role is designed to meet the increasing demand for IBD services within our colorectal unit.
