About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Website Content Manager to join our team at the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) on a 12-month maternity cover basis. As a key member of our communications team, you will play a crucial role in transforming our corporate website into an accessible, engaging, and high-ranking platform for our diverse audiences.

Key Responsibilities
  • Content Creation: Develop high-quality content for our website, in collaboration with colleagues, to effectively communicate the NIHR's offerings to our key audiences.
  • Team Development: Enhance the writing skills of colleagues in local business delivery teams, including their understanding of writing for web and use of key systems.
  • System Support: Assist centre colleagues in familiarizing themselves with the NIHR's new awards management system and website Content Management System.
  • SEO and Readability: Ensure content is optimized for search engine optimization (SEO) and readability, and presented in line with identified user journeys.
  • Content Analysis: Analyze and report on content performance using various website tools, including Google Analytics.
  • Content Audit: Manage a program of work to audit, review, and update website content related to the work of local business delivery teams.
  • Accessibility: Ensure content is produced in accordance with accessibility requirements.
  • User Experience: Contribute to the planning and implementation of user testing to drive continuous improvement of user experience across the NIHR website.
  • Project Collaboration: Work on projects with the central NIHR website team to plan, test, and implement new functionality and features on the NIHR website and related systems.
Requirements
  • Education: Educated to degree level, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: Experience of working in health and/or research, as well as in a large, complex, or distributed organization or for a government department or public sector organization.
  • Writing Skills: Excellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to make complex information engaging and accessible to meet corporate and user requirements.
  • Technical Skills: Experience of using web content management systems and optimizing web content to improve SEO rankings, including keyword selection, link building, and resolving broken links.
  • Analytics: Experience of producing reports and analyzing data using Google Analytics to drive continuous improvement.
Desirable Criteria
  • Technical Skills: Experience of working with Drupal, HTML, GA4, HotJar, SEO tools, and Google Workspace.
  • Design Skills: Experience of using multimedia editing software (e.g., Adobe Photoshop, Canva).
  • Training Skills: Experience of providing training to colleagues.
  • User Experience Skills: Experience of planning and implementing user experience testing.
  • Design Skills: Website design skills.
