Financial Operations Specialist

Job Purpose
The purpose of this role is to provide support to the Financial Services teams at Halfords, ensuring robust process control around balance sheet reconciliations for all Group function entities. The successful candidate will focus on key areas around unreconciled items, and either resolve or improve processes based on need and in line with our continuous improvement goals.
Key Responsibilities
Preparation of accurate and timely month-end balance sheet reconciliations for allocated accounts, with a focus on resolving reconciling items, particularly payroll and cash & banking;
Identification of potential issues at month-end and collaboration with the Group Financial Reporting Manager to determine and implement the necessary resolutions;
Assistance with analytical reviews of balance sheet items to ensure variances against budget, prior year, and prior month are understood, documented, and corrective actions are identified;
Support in providing clear commentary on these items for monthly review packs to assist the Financial reporting and FP&A team;
Collaboration with other teams and the shared service center to ensure seamless month-end processes;
Ensuring compliance with applicable SOX narratives;
Support in responding to audit queries and preparing required audit analysis for both internal and external audits.
Key Skills
Part-qualified ACA, ACCA, CIMA/AAT, or QBE;
Experience working in a team environment, with a preference for experience in a Shared Service Center;
Experience working in a large, complex business;
Proficiency in Excel and experience with SAP (desirable);
Experience with month-end processes;
Strong understanding of relevant IFRS's and fundamental accounting principles;
Ability to manage large data sets and prioritize tasks effectively;
Experience meeting tight deadlines and working under pressure;
Commitment to process and service improvement, and alignment with Halfords' values.
