The Opportunity

Our client, a leading Canadian mining organization, is seeking a highly skilled Chief Mine Engineer to join their team at their mine site in Northern Ontario. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic and challenging environment, with a focus on maximizing mine performance in a safe and efficient manner.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Technical Leadership: Provide technical leadership and operational expertise to the engineering and operations team, ensuring compliance with applicable engineering codes, regulations, safety, and environmental practices.
  2. Mine Planning: Develop, optimize, and implement the approved mine plan to achieve annual tonnage and ounce objectives in a safe and economic manner, including planning alternative optimized methods of ore extraction, stope access, and mining sequence.
  3. Reporting and Budgeting: Oversee and sign off on month-end engineering reports and hourly bonus calculations, and develop the annual mine site budget and quarterly forecasts.
  4. Collaboration and Communication: Participate in weekly planning meetings with key personnel to coordinate activities and meet goals, and work closely with the mine team to plan and execute mine operations.
Requirements
  1. Education: Minimum of BSc Eng in Mining Engineering.
  2. Experience: 10+ years of mining experience, preferably with some surface and underground mining experience, of which at least 5 years has been in a Chief or Senior Mining Engineering position.
  3. Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of engineering standards and quality control required, with excellent communication and leadership skills.
