Job Overview

La Mancha is seeking a highly skilled Mining Engineer to join its investment team as a core member. The successful candidate will be responsible for participating in the investment process, reporting to the Chief Technical Officer, and managing multiple projects with tight deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate mining and processing due diligence, including evaluation of mine plans, validation of mineral reserves and mining models, and assessment of processing technology.
  • Conduct detailed due diligence on technical reports and studies prior to potential investments, including technical assumptions, parameters, and cost estimates.
  • Produce a detailed risks and opportunities matrix, including modifying factors.
  • Collaborate with the investment team to provide investment recommendations.
  • Support the team in monitoring portfolio companies' operational performance and provide regular technical updates.

Requirements

  • BEng or MSc in Mining Engineering.
  • 10+ years' experience as a Mine Planning Engineer with strong operational and consulting experience.
  • Proven project management skills, including handling conflicting priorities and managing external service providers.
  • Extensive open pit and underground operational experience.
  • Ability to create and review mine plans (short-term and life of asset).
  • Strong understanding of ore reserves' modifying factors and cost estimation (capital & operating).
  • Knowledge of gold metallurgy and processing technology.
  • Proficient in Excel model analytics.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in preliminary economic analysis.
  • Prior experience with an investment fund or financial institution in the mineral sector.
  • Ability to estimate underground/open pit reserves from resource models.
  • Knowledge of project financial model risks, NPV, and IRR metrics.
  • Familiarity with reserve estimation standards (SAMREC, JORC) and public disclosure compliance.

Working Conditions
