Underground Chief Mining Engineer

We are seeking a highly experienced and projects-focused Underground Chief Mining Engineer to join our long-standing African operation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Project Planning and Scheduling: Assist the Mine Manager with planning, scheduling, coordination, monitoring, and management of all underground projects.
  • Technical Services Management: Manage, control, and coordinate all Underground technical services departments; Blasting, Ventilation, Survey, Geology & Geotechnical.
  • Mine Design and Optimization: Optimise mine designs and layouts in accordance with best mine procedures and standards.
  • Financial Management: Financial tracking of underground projects, budgets, and capital expenditure.
  • Cost Modelling and Analysis: Development of cost models in and financial analysis for all underground operations.
  • Execution Plan Development: Development, review, monitoring, and management of the execution plan.
  • Technical Audits and Evaluation: Technical audits and evaluation, including mining methods, infrastructure, designs, schedules, and financials.
Requirements:
  • Experience: Experience in developing and managing underground feasibility study projects.
  • Education: Degree in Mining Engineering.
  • Qualifications: Qualification in Business Administration/Project Management.
  • International Experience: Extensive experience in hard rock underground mining, with international experience desirable (particularly in Africa).
  • Technical Report Writing: Technical Report writing, with a good knowledge of the mineral reporting codes, including the NI43-101 and JORC code.
