Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating all underground projects, ensuring alignment with the mine's long-term objectives. This includes:

  • Developing short-term plans that maintain the long-term objectives
  • Managing, controlling, and coordinating all Underground technical services departments; Blasting, Ventilation, Survey, Geology & Geotechnical
  • Optimizing mine designs and layouts in accordance with best mine procedures and standards
  • Financial tracking of underground projects, budgets, and capital expenditure
  • Development of cost models and financial analysis for all underground operations
  • Development, review, monitoring, and management of the execution plan
  • Technical audits and evaluation, including mining methods, infrastructure, designs, schedules, and financials
Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience in developing and managing underground feasibility study projects
  • Degree in Mining Engineering
  • Qualification in Business Administration/Project Management
  • Extensive experience in hard rock underground mining
  • International experience is desirable (particularly in Africa)
  • Technical Report writing, a good knowledge of the mineral reporting codes, including the NI43-101 and JORC code
