About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Ground Staff to join our team at Colas Rail UK. As a Ground Staff, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient movement of freight trains on the Doncaster to Newcastle LNE line.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare freight trains for service, ensuring they are correctly loaded and secured.
  • Facilitate train movements, including coupling and uncoupling wagons and locomotives.
  • Conduct technical examinations of rolling stock to ensure compliance with railway industry standards.
  • Assist train drivers with brake continuity testing and other safety-related tasks.
  • Complete train documentation, including preparation certificates and train readiness certificates.
  • Operate ground frames and hand points to facilitate train movements.
  • Work collaboratively with maintenance and servicing staff to ensure the smooth operation of trains.
  • Adhere to health and safety protocols, ensuring a safe working environment for yourself and others.
Requirements
  • Personal Track Safety certification.
  • Rules and Regulations competence.
  • Freight Train Operations, Loading, and Rolling Stock Examination knowledge.
