Position Overview
Are you a qualified dietitian with a strong passion and experience in the fields of gastroenterology and surgical nutrition, including complex cases such as intestinal failure and nutritional support?
We present a unique opportunity for a dietitian to broaden their expertise in a teaching hospital setting.
This is a permanent position (WTE band 6) that involves working within a dynamic and adaptable team.

The successful candidate will manage a diverse inpatient caseload, providing the opportunity to gain extensive experience across a variety of clinical conditions.
Involvement in gastroenterology outpatient services is expected, along with the potential to oversee a limited number of home enteral feeding patients.
Collaboration with the broader dietetic teams is essential, as the dietitian plays a vital role within the multi-disciplinary team, ensuring high-quality nutritional care for these patient populations.
Strong communication skills, a flexible mindset, and the ability to independently manage your time and responsibilities within a supportive team environment are crucial.
We seek individuals who are enthusiastic, driven, and proactive in developing their skills, experience, and service enhancements in a nurturing atmosphere.
Support will be provided by senior team members specializing in gastroenterology, hepatology, HPB, intestinal failure, and oncology.

The Dietetic service is part of the Therapies and Rehabilitation Services pathway, which is integral to the Clinical Support Division. Our diverse team of over 600 professionals, including physiotherapists, dietitians, occupational therapists, orthotists, prosthetists, and speech and language therapists, collaborates to provide exceptional care. Our Chief AHP leads our strategic direction, and many pathway leaders have backgrounds in AHP to support our staff. Additionally, Practice Development Therapists are available to assist with career advancement.

Job Duties
This role involves working with inpatients, necessitating the use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Main Duties Include:
- Delivering clinically effective specialist Dietetic and Nutrition services in designated clinical areas, including assessment and treatment recommendations.
- Serving as a resource for expertise in Dietetics and Nutrition for staff, caregivers, and patients, including providing education and training.
- Collaborating as a member of a departmental team under the guidance of the appropriate team leader. The post holder may work across different campuses.

Qualifications
Essential:
- HCPC registration
- Qualified Dietitian (degree, post-graduate diploma, or equivalent)
- Evidence of ongoing professional development
Desirable:
- Membership in the BDA
- Completion of validated courses
Experience
Essential:
- Experience as a dietitian
- Able to apply advanced knowledge gained through experience to specialized areas
Desirable:
- Experience in any of the specialized fields

- Excellent verbal, non-verbal, and written communication skills, including the ability to explain, negotiate, motivate, and train.

- Able to address communication challenges, including language barriers, and adapt approaches to various situations.
Communication Skills
Essential:
- Able to communicate complex matters to a diverse audience.
- Utilizing professional judgment to resolve issues and make decisions when presented with multiple options.
Planning and Organizational Skills
Essential:
- Able to effectively plan and organize personal workload, including daily tasks and long-term strategic initiatives, despite interruptions and shifting priorities.
- Able to plan and organize the work of assigned student dietitians.
Physical Requirements
Essential:
- Able to accurately perform anthropometric measurements and utilize relevant equipment.
- Proficient in using a computer keyboard and relevant software applications.
