About the Role

We are seeking a visionary leader to spearhead our search strategy and drive traffic, engagement, and audience growth. As our Head of Search Optimization, you will play a key role within the business, working with teams around the world to develop and implement a comprehensive SEO strategy aligned with our global KPIs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement SEO Strategy: Create and execute a comprehensive SEO strategy that drives traffic, engagement, and audience growth.
  • Lead and Mentor a Team: Lead and mentor a team of SEO managers, creating a centre of excellence and ensuring best practices are communicated and followed.
  • Monitor and Analyze Site Performance: Monitor and analyze site performance using tools such as Google Search Console, GA4, SEMrush, and Similarweb to provide regular reports and insights for editorial teams and senior stakeholders.
  • Conduct Competitor Analysis: Conduct competitor analysis to stay ahead of industry trends and adjust strategies accordingly.
  • Stay Up-to-Date with Industry Trends: Stay abreast of the latest SEO trends, algorithm changes, AI developments, and best practices to ensure we remain competitive in search rankings.
  • Oversee Technical SEO: Oversee and advise on technical SEO to enhance site performance and user experience.
  • Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with product, engineering, and UX teams to ensure SEO best practices are factored into new product developments and our overall site structure.
Requirements
  • Expertise in Organic Search: Expertise in organic search, Google News, Top Stories, and Google Discover, and well-versed in technical SEO.
  • Strong Analytical Skills: Strong understanding of Google Search Console, GA4, and third-party tools (SEMrush, Similarweb, Screaming Frog). CMS familiarity would be a bonus.
  • Experience in Data Analysis: Deep experience in data analysis with the ability to translate data into clear, actionable strategies for a range of different teams.
  • Leadership Experience: Demonstrated experience in managing and developing a team.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain SEO concepts to non-technical stakeholders and different teams around the business.
