Technical Manager Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Manager to join our team at Vistry Thames Valley, based in Reading. As a Technical Manager, you will play a key role in the design development process, working closely with our team to deliver high-quality projects from inception to completion.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the wider strategy of the department and business unit, advising on industry changes and identifying risks and opportunities.
  • Undertake the Principal Designer role, ensuring compliance with the Construction Design & Management Regulation 2015 and completing all necessary Health, Safety & Environmental documents.
  • Coordinate delivery of surveys and reports, managing associated requirements from design to completion.
  • Coordinate consultants to deliver civil engineering designs, including legal plans and house type working drawing packs.
  • Obtain and collate ancillary specialist drawings, ensuring timely completion of legal agreements.
  • Coordinate utility designs and initial mains laying onto site, ensuring legal agreements are completed in a timely manner.

Requirements:

  • BTEC HND/HNC in Design, Construction or Civil Engineering.
  • At least 5 years' experience working within a technical role at a residential house builder.
  • Good level of IT literacy, with experience of AutoCAD, Revit, Outlook, Excel & Word.
  • Proven ability in a Technical Manager role, assessing technical aspects for land opportunities and delivering design for projects on time, to budget and quality standards.
  • Excellent organisation and time management skills, with ability to multitask.
  • Principal Designer and associated Health and Safety training/qualifications.
  • CSCS card qualification.
  • Proficient use of AutoCAD.
  • Management of technical fees and services cost to complete.
  • Continued professional development and keeping up to date with changes within the industry.
