Position Overview

An outstanding opportunity has emerged within the Supplier and Contract Management Team at NHS Blood & Transplant, allowing you to enhance your expertise in managing contracts across various categories and sub-categories, particularly within the Corporate Services sub-team.

The role is situated at our state-of-the-art Blood Centre in Filton, Bristol, which stands as the largest blood manufacturing facility globally.

You will undergo a comprehensive induction and training program, along with continuous development to assist you in your role and achieving your professional aspirations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Join a dedicated team of procurement experts tasked with negotiating and overseeing a range of critical commercial contracts and framework agreements for the supply of goods and services to NHSBT.
  • Collaborate with Senior Commercial Managers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to manage the entire contracting process, ensuring the needs of all parties are addressed.
  • Support the National Contracts Managers and National Procurement Manager in delivering contracts that are robust, legally binding, and cost-effective, ensuring NHSBT demonstrates best value for money on its contracted non-pay expenditures and meets savings targets.
  • Conduct supplier management to guarantee the delivery of expected benefits from contracts and monitor supplier performance, including supplier development where applicable.
  • Ensure adherence to Public Contract Regulations, including mandatory directives, policy notes, and NHSBT Standing Orders and Financial Instructions.

Occasional travel away from the base may be required to fulfill the responsibilities of the position.


Candidate Profile

Experience and Expertise

  • Proven experience in a computerized office environment, ideally within procurement or logistics.
  • Familiarity with formal contracting processes and drafting amendments.
  • Understanding of legislation related to goods and services.
  • Proficient in Information Technology, particularly with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Experience utilizing IT systems to generate timely, professional, and accurate reports and correspondence, including financial data.

Educational Background

  • Minimum education level of GCSE, including Mathematics and English Language, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Willingness to pursue the Member of Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (MCIPS) qualification or an equivalent credential.
  • Evidence of Continuous Professional Development (CPD).
