Haircare Category Manager

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Beauty Product Buyer to join our team at Superdrug. As a key member of our buying team, you will be responsible for developing and managing our key hair care category.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement effective category plans, including range reviews, promotions, pricing, and stock management, to drive sales and profitability.
- Collaborate with the Marketing team to develop and implement marketing promotion plans and strategies that align with our commercial strategy and financial objectives.
- Review and evaluate the effectiveness of promotions, taking appropriate action where necessary, and sharing best practices with peers and other stakeholders.
- Work with the Own Brand team to develop and deliver Own Brand products and ranges that meet our strategy and plans.
- Partner with the Merchandising team to agree merchandising strategies that drive and deliver the right range in the right store, ensuring availability and controlling slow-moving stock.
- Identify and implement new product opportunities that are competitively priced, commercially viable, and meet customer needs, driving sales and profitability.
- Manage and review pricing to ensure it is competitive and maximizes profitability, operating within our Company pricing strategy.
- Work with the Supply Chain team to ensure base sales and promotional forecasts are adhered to, while maintaining in-store availability to meet customer needs.
- Develop effective internal working relationships with cross-functional team members to support and enhance category objectives and performance.
- Develop and maintain effective external relationships to enhance the Superdrug proposition and meet customer needs.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years' experience as a buyer in a retail environment, preferably in the grocery, fragrance, or healthcare sectors.
- Significant experience with Excel and strong commercial awareness.
- Strong analytical skills, numerical ability, and creative thinking to identify trends and bring them to market quickly.
- Ability to influence at all levels, both internally and externally, and strong interpersonal skills with the ability to adapt style as required.
- Strong negotiation skills.
