Position: Data Centre Engineer (Contract)
Location: London
Rate: £200/day

We are currently seeking a skilled Data Centre Engineer to join our team in London.

Our client, a prominent player in the Data and Telecommunications sector, has a significant project that involves the construction of Data Centres and office installations.

This role is initially set for a 3-month contract, with a strong possibility of extension due to ongoing projects involving over 50 Data Centres across the UK.

Experience in constructing Oracle Data Centres or a background in Oracle Data will be advantageous.


Contract Details:
- Data Centre Engineer
- Initial 3-month contract
- £200/day (Outside IR35)
- Expenses covered
- Monday to Friday

We are looking for candidates who can commence work immediately and possess their own transportation for site visits.

Key Responsibilities:
- Install, test, and maintain a variety of IT communication infrastructure and cabling within Data Centres and Telecommunications exchanges nationwide.
- Lay, splice, and test fiber optic cabling.
- Lay, terminate, and test copper Cat6 data and voice cabling (including Krone blocks).
- Develop project documentation and provide guidance as a Technical Authority.
- Lead engineering projects within Data Centres.
- Supervise on-site staff to ensure project tasks are completed to the required standards.

Essential Skills:
- Willingness to occasionally work weekends or travel to remote sites.
- Proven experience in a Data Centre or Telecommunications environment.
- Hands-on expertise in structured cabling installation and testing, including fiber optic splicing (ODF and Cassettes, OTDR testing), copper CAT 6 termination, and voice multi-pair cabling with Krone blocks.
- Experience with the installation of rack-mountable equipment.
- Solid understanding of Data Centre Operations and Management procedures.
- Ability to develop and document operational processes.
- Familiarity with OM3 and OM4 standards.
- Knowledge of the technical requirements and infrastructure for Direct Current (DC) power systems.
