Head Orthoptist

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Head Orthoptist to lead our Orthoptic Service at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our Ophthalmology leadership team, you will provide clinical leadership for all orthoptists and manage a team responsive to change and challenges within the environment.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead the Orthoptic Service at Heartlands, Good Hope, and Solihull sites
- Manage the daily operations of the service, including staff management and development
- Develop and implement service improvement initiatives
- Provide clinical leadership and guidance to orthoptists
- Work with the multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality patient care
- Develop and deliver educational programs for undergraduate orthoptic students, optometrists, and other healthcare professionals
- Contribute to the development of the Trust's strategic plan and objectives
- Diploma of British Orthoptic Council or Degree in Orthoptics
- Professional Registration with HCPC
- Evidence of clinical teaching qualification
- Significant experience working as an Orthoptist at Band 7 level
- Experience in people management and leadership
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively
